Saint Thekla
Protomartyr & Equal-to-the-Apostles
St. Thekla is the beloved patron saint of our mission parish. A follower of Christ from the first century who devoted her life to Him after hearing the preaching of St. Paul, she remained steadfast in her faith despite facing persecution, imprisonment, and many trials.
Equal-to-the-Apostles
St. Thekla faithfully shared the Gospel and inspired many. For this reason, the Church honours her as Equal-to-the-Apostles, a title given to saints whose lives made an extraordinary contribution to the spread of the Christian faith.
Protomartyr Among Women
St. Thekla endured persecution, imprisonment, and suffering for Christ with unwavering faith. The Church honours her as the Protomartyr among Women, recognizing her as the first woman to bear such witness for the Christian faith.
Our Inspiration
Our mission is named in honour of St. Thekla's faith, courage, and devotion to Christ. As we grow together as a parish family in Ottawa, we pray that her example inspires us to remain faithful, share the Gospel, and serve God with love.
